With the season coming to a halt, the girl’s varsity soccer team finished 4th in golden league. Their pre-season record ended up 3-3-0 with an overall record of 9-7-2 during season. They lost in the first round of CIF playoffs after being chosen as a wild-card. They started off the season strong, with three convincing wins against the Burroughs, with a 4-0 win, Paraclete with a 2-0 win, and Mammoth with a 3-1 win. They had a difficult time at the Hart Showcase Tournament, losing their last three preseason games. The girls have been playing with injured players and some had to sit out. Their main rivalry this year was with Quartz Hill. They lost both games but later on discovered that they won due to forfeits. The girls are theonly team so far to have scored on Lancaster, Megan Farrell scored from a free kick from 40 yards out. Adriana Ramirez also scored from an assist from Paige Shultz from 35 yards out. “Goals are hard to get by,” says Coach Billes. It has been pretty hard for the girls to have a consistency in putting the ball in the back of the net. Farrell stated, “I believe our team has a lot of potential but we’re not applying it as much as we need to in our games.” .
