After finishing second in the Golden League this year, the Lady Falcons ended their season on Feb. 18th with a 71-56 opening round playoff loss to Lynwood. One of the main reasons for the Palmdale girl’s basketball team’s success this season is senior guard Tayllor Gipson. This is her first year attending and playing for Palmdale. Before Palmdale she attended Washington Prep in Los Angeles where she played basketball as well. Gipson says that the move was very hard but the transition from one team to another was harder. “The season is going good we came along way,” Gipson says. From getting blown out in preseason to being second in our league.” Starting league play on Jan. 6 the Palmdale Lady Falcon’s basketball team took on the visiting Lancaster Eagles for the first Golden League game of the season. The Falcons came out on top beating the Eagles 53-42. Senior guard Tayllor Gipson had a good game scoring 17 points.

    The Quartz Hill Rebels came to Palmdale High on Jan. 8 to take on (4-9) Lady Falcons. Although the game was close, the rebels left with a win beating the Falcons 34-32. The Falcons then travelled to Knight High School on Jan. 12. The Falcons beat the Hawks 47-43. The Antelope Valley Lady Lopes came to the Phelps field house on Jan. 15 to take on the Falcons. The Lopes left with a win, beating the Falcons 74-50. On Jan. 19 the Falcons traveled to Littlerock to play the Lady Lobos. The Falcons showed no mercy, pounding the Lobos 50- 25. Senior forward Demi Washington had the best game of her season so far scoring 16 points and 8 rebounds. The Lady Falcons took a beating to the Eastside Lions on Jan. 22 beating them 44-14. On Jan. 26 the Falcons found themselves in Highland’s gym playing the Lady Bulldogs. The Bulldogs were kept on a leash throughout the game losing to the Falcons 60-25. Junior center Hope Smith had an outstanding game scoring 30 points. On Jan. 28 the Falcons played the visiting Lancaster Eagles for the second time this season. Once again the Eagles showed no threat losing to the falcons 51-30.

    The Lady Falcons travelled to Quartz Hill’s gym on Jan. 29. The last time the Falcons and Rebels met, the Rebels came out beating the Falcons 32-34. Losing there previous match up did not stop the Falcons from beating the Rebels 39-24.
