Construction for any
school is usually not
an issue but on Jan.
29, a cement truck
caused some problems
for Palmdale High.
The cement truck
was on campus building
a batting cage for
the softball team. The
roads around the P.E.
field were filled with
mud after winter rainstorms, so the truck driver drove
across the field to avoid problems. This turned out to be
a bad idea.
The truck’s tires got stuck in the mud about
18 inches into the ground. The tracks crossed from the
black top and ended near the softball field.
The field is used as a practice area for many sports
including soccer and football. This incident interrupted
the soccer team’s practice. Varsity Soccer Coach
Jarrod Cline said, “It’s keeping us off the field.”
To resolve the problem, a tow truck came and pulled
the truck off the field.
Assistant Principal Steve Radford commented, “These
are the types of things they don’t prepare you for in
school.”.
