Have you ever wondered what teachers do in their spare time? Tenth and 12th grade English teacher Chris Andrews can build armor. Andrews had a friend in the military who showed him how to build the armor. He has been doing this for ten years. “(It’s) easy to learn (but) hard to master,” Andrews said.
History teacher Ms. Lynch is a semi-pro belly dancer. She first started belly dancingafter going to a spa and taking the final spot for a class. Lynch now has a very busy schedule that includes a two-hour private lesson once a week, two-hour practices with her troop twice a week, and practices everyday on her own. She says to, “Tip your dancers. Always tip your dancers.”
Construction technology teacher Ruben Rodriguez has a very different talent: he can rip a phonebook in half. Rodriguez learned his talent when he was only 17 years old. One of his friends who worked with him on a construction site showed him that it was possible. “Sometimes what appears to be impossible can be done as long as you know what you’re doing,” said Rodriguez.
