Online courses are provided at Palmdale High School in order to offer students flexibility in their schedules as well as to provide students with different modes of instruction that will enhance individual students' learning styles. PHS currently offers online courses in English for grades nine through twelve, including a range of different types of courses, such as regular, honors, and Advanced Placement. These classes meet one to three times a week, depending upon the instructor and course, and on days that there is not face-to-face class sessions, students engage in rigorous curricula provided via the internet and classroom chat rooms. These courses are modeled after university courses as well as technological fields. Consequently, these courses work to prepare students not only for rigorous college course work but also for fields within the technological workforce.
